Berlin Premiere: "Hors la loi - Outside the Law" by Rachid Bouchareb on Sunday 3 June 2012 at 17h, Hackesche Höfe Kino

On the occasion of the celebration of 50 years of Algerian independence and to commemorate the massacre of Sétif perpetrated by the French in Algeria on 8 May 1945 - the day the war ended in Europe! - AfricAvenir and Yedd invite you to the Berlin premiere of Rachid Bouchareb's masterpiece "Outside the Law" (OmU) on Sunday 3 June at 5 p.m. at Hackesche Höfe Kino. Three Algerian brothers, one fate: the fight for freedom! After loosing their family home in Algeria, three brothers and their mother are scattered across the globe. Messaoud joins the French army fighting in Indochina; Abdelkader becomes a leader of the Algerian independence movement in France and Saïd moves to Paris to make his fortune in the shady clubs and boxing halls of Pigalle. Gradually, their interconnecting destinies reunite them in the French capital, where freedom is a battle to be fought and won. After „Indigènes – Days of Glory“ Bouchareb presents a haunting and epic depiction of the bloody final chapter of French colonial rule.

Following the film an open discussion with contemporary witness and former FLN activist Hafid Manseur and historian Dr. Radouane Belakhdar will take place, followed by a small reception in the cinema foyer.
