AfricAvenir Newsletter

The AfricAvenir Newsletter is sent out once a month and contains information about AfricAvenir activities in Douala, Windhoek and Berlin, News about activities on our Website and a section with Third Party Events and Announcements (see below for Guidance). It is multilingual, mainly in German French and English.

Additionally, major AfricAvenir events are announced individually, during AfricAvenir Festivals the Newsletter may be used more often. This is done exceptionally and is announced prior to the Festival.

Guidance for the Integration of Third Party Events into AfricAvenir’s Newsletter & Website

In order for third party events and announcements to be integrated in one of the editions of AfricAvenir’s Newsletter, you need to provide the announcement text as a Word Document and if available a picture (format Jpg, Size approx. 500x350 Pixels, File Size not more than 150KB).

Please note that AfricAvenir reserves the right to deny the publication of Third Party Events and Announcements without however being always able to communicate and explain the denial.

The main Criteria for the integration of Third Party Events and Announcements is that African Perspectives should be at their centre or at least feature prominently, e.g. through Key Note Speakers. AfricAvenir’s aim is to counter the pre-dominance of European and Eurocentric expertise on African Affairs and is therefore trying to give African expertise and perspectives more visibility.

Another reason for denial can simply be if an event happens at the same day as one o our won, and in the same city. In this case we would not be able to advertise it.

Last but not least, if information is sent to us at the last minute it may well happen that we are not able to include it. We therefore recommend that you send your announcements well in advance and follow the points of guidance (see above).

The same guidance also applies to the integration of Third Party Events and Announcements on the AfricAvenir Website.

Deadlines: we try to send the Newsletter in the first few days of each month, although this may vary due to work overload. We therefore recommend to send your information at least two weeks before the end of the month.
