Political Workshop Documentary by Filmmaker Ricardo Bacallao

Documentary like a defensive tool at the Society. During 10 days students will create a documentary of a 5 minutes from the Idea to Production. All in the context of social issues documentaries, the student will learn from well known political or social documentaries. During the workshop the group of students will gain experience from a project writing to the basic knowledge of cutting (in this case final cut pro) in post production.

Plan
Building a Project
1.During the firsts days we will work to build a documentaries project taken from the news or a local story with possibilities of easy production. At the same time, we will review knowledge of camera positioning and editing.
2. Selection of the project will be made according to the number of the students. The selection will be made after days of reading and discussion that include a project analysis. These will be followed by a review and hands on exercises on camera positioning and editing.
3. We will prepare the students with the knowledge of documentaries history, styles and genre.
4. The last day will be dedicated to editing and reviewing cuts of the documentaries in class.
5. Maximus: 10 students

Equipment and Cost
The students will need to have access to a camera and a computer for editing. And the cost of 10 euros per hour.
Date: March 2, 5:30 to 8:30pm weekdays.

Bio of Ricardo Bacallao
Ricardo Bacallao a Cuban Filmmaker, received his MFA in film from NYU. While living in Madrid and Berlin, Ricardo participated several times in the Berlin Film Festival, including being selected as the first Cuban representative to the festival's Talent Campus in 2003 and 2004. In 2010, a segment Ricardo produced for CUNY TV's magazine show Nueva York won a New York Emmy Award. Since that time, he has been working as a freelance director, DP, producer and editor of documentary shorts both commercially and for air on venues such as CUNY TV, HITN, and at New York based exhibition spaces. Ricardo Bacallao is doing several presentations of his documentaries and narratives films.
