The Council of the European Union published its "Conclusions on a transformative post-2015 agenda<\/link>" in December 2014, calling on the European Commission to find ways to support and put into practice the transformative development agenda laid out by the Open Working Group (OWG) in their proposal for the Sustainable Development Goals <\/link>and the Secretary General of the UN in his synthesis report "The Road to Dignity by 2030<\/link>".nIn its conclusions, the Council acknowledges that "Business as usual is no longer an option, whether in terms of human dignity, equality or sustainability. The new agenda should aim to eradicate poverty in all its forms and to achieve sustainable development in its three dimensions in a balanced and integrated manner." To achieve this, "the post-2015 agenda should be reflected in the internal and external policies of the Member States and of the EU". The Council also calls on EU member states to adhere to the promise of committing 0,7% of the GNI to official development assistance and stresses the importance of Policy Coherence for Development (PCD), entailing the elimination of environmentally harmful EU subsidies and the remaking of trade, migration and knowledge sharing policies.  <\/p>\n

"The new agenda must be people-centred, based on human rights, and combat discrimination, including gender inequality and gender based violence.
