Are there connections with the rhythmic poetry tradition which Somalia is so renowned for? What spaces or worlds of words are generated in the creative encounter with Berlin\u2019s poetry scene?<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s find out: Dec 3, 2009, 9 pm: Spoken Word Performances by Warsan Shire and Kinsi Abdulleh, followed by an Open Mic Session for poets from the audience.<\/p>\n<p>A unique night for, by and with poetry lovers. A warm welcome to all wordsmiths to perform at the Open Mic: Optional registration at anna.jaeger@hkw.de, spontaneous decisions are also welcome!<\/p>\n<p>Your hosts are: <b>Tanja D\u00fcckers<\/b> and <b>Jan Kage aka Yaneq<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Born in 1989 in Somalia, prizewinning poet, social critic and performance poet Warsan Shire won several international Poetry Awards. She lives in London.<\/p>\n<p>The artist, performer and curator <b>Kinsi Abdulleh<\/b> was born in Somalia and lives in London. Her unique work combines stories, objects found in archives and daily life with photographic imagery, textiles, audio and film, using both space and language.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tanja D\u00fcckers<\/b> writes for various newspapers and magazines.
