Pungwe Night is an ongoing party-and-politics series, that started in Harare in 2013. On May 15th, Republik of Pungwe brings the party to Berlin. Pungwe means to party from Dusk till Dawn – and the DJ sets by KMT Freedom Teacher (London) and Biko MC (Harare) move us through the night with Afrobeat, Chimurenga, Toyitoyi, and Hiphop Music.

Pungwe also creates a creative space for raising political awareness – the connection between the DJs has its roots in discussions surrounding the Afrikan Hiphop Caravan, about how arts and culture can be used to build, to support, and to strengthen Movements for Social Justice on a global scale. The Pungwe Night in Berlin is the first collaboration of the three artists and builds the foundation for ongoing interactions that bridge borders.
