(Süd)Afrikanisch inspirierte House-Musik in Kreuzberg, Streetfood am Sandstrand, Nomadenkino, Diversität, KULTUR. RISE und der SAGE BEACH präsentieren ein letztes Open Air Event in 2016. Der Eintritt ist frei - wir bitten stattdessen um Spenden für AfricAvenir, einen gemeinnützigen Verein für politische und kulturelle Bildungsarbeit, sowie den SAGE Hospital e.V., Träger eines Kinderkrankenhauses im Senegal.
Die Veranstaltungsreihe RISE (eng. für Aufstieg) präsentiert den Sound aus den Townships von Kapstadt, Durban und Johannesburg seit fast einem Jahr regelmäßig im watergate club "official" und schafft somit Raum für neue musikalische und kulturelle Synergien. Südafrikas Deep House Szene wächst und produziert auf zahllosen Labels wie Soulistic, Yoruba und Innervisions Musik, die zunehmend auch in Deutschland Anerkennung findet.
Zum ersten RISE Open Air Event werden zunächst die Residents der Reihe - Hyenah, Floyd Lavine und Dede - auflegen, dazu David Mayer, sowie Sooma und Soulmind & Chix vom Berliner Kollektiv Through My Speakers - allesamt seit jeher Aktivisten und Liebhaber internationaler Musik und Subkulturen.
Am Rande der Tanzfläche zeigt das Nomadenkino den Dokumentarfilm Future Sound of Mzansi von Regisseur Spoek Mathambo, der sich mit der Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft der südafrikanischen Musikszene beschäftigt. Darüber hinaus werden die Vereine AfricAvenir und SAGE Hospital e.V. über ihre Arbeit informieren.
Lasst uns noch einmal zusammen draußen feiern und dann gut durch Herbst und Winter kommen.

Rise and Sage Beach present one last open air in 2016 before the season ends.
For about a year now the Rise events represent that very unique sound coming from the townships of Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg, strongly rooted in Deep House but with a strong percussive twist to it at the Watergate club.
The main focus is to create a new space for cultural exchange aswell as musical collaborations.
While South Africa's scene is steadily growing its good reputation and the main protagonists finally made it to Europe, finding a strong support through labels like Soulistic, Yoruba and innervisions.
For the first ever Rise open air we are happy to introduce you to the Rise residents as they are Hyenah, Floyd Lavine and Dede. On top we present to you David Mayer, Sooma, Soulmind & Chix from the Berlin based Through My Speakers collective, all of them leading members in the international scene and especially within Berlin's subculture
Last but not least the Nomadenkino will be screening a documentary called „Future sound of Mzansi" by director Spook Mathambo, who has always been deeply involved in the south African music scene.
There won't be any cover charge, instead you could donate to AfricAvenir International, an international nonprofit organization focusing on political and cultural education or the SAGE Hospital e.V which is running a Children's Hospital in Senegal.
