Dialogue Forum with Daho Djerbal: Developing Post-Colonial Algeria: Policies Between Theory and Practice

This talk will shed light on the post - colonial trajectories of development in past and present Algeria. Djerbal will argue that there are three fundamental issues for understanding theories and practices of Algeria's post-colonial development: state, industrialization and rent economy. He will not only highlight the economic challenges inherited from colonialism and dominant paradigms, but also the pernicious effects of oil revenues on the practices of state and society.
