Film screening: LIFE SAARABA ILLEGAL
"Saaraba” is what West Africans call the promised land of "Europe". Over a period of almost 10 years the camera follows Aladji and Souley, two brothers from a small fishing island in the atlantics and off the coast of Senegal. His cousin and co-writer of this film - Saliou Sar - who in his home country has become a known musician (Alibeta), documents the journey of 3.000 kilometers all the way up to Northern Morocco where he tries to convince him to return.
R: Saliou Waa Guendoum Sarr, Peter Heller, Bernhard Rübe, Documentary, Germany, 2016, 90 Min.

And we are closing with a concert by ALIBERTA:
Aliberta is all over the place: This Senegalese artist is working within all kinds of universes: in the theatre, on the film set and – his favourite art – music. As a composer and singer, he is influenced by afro-jazz, roots as well as the music of the Madinka. Born in Tambakouda, he improvises on these West-African influences, and with humility, he uses the words of the Dogon masters, impressed by their cosmology.
