Alibeta – Migration & Art / Film, Discussion, Concert

On July 13, 2019, we will invite you to travel with us through different universes of arts and activism.

Together with ALIBERTA, Ahmed Cheikhou Toure BA, Mâallem Khalid Sans, Marcia Higelin Mikhalkova we invite you to an evening fill of ARTIVISM (Film/ Discussion/ Concert).

The project we want to share with you on this evening was born in January 2018 under the slogan “UBUNTU Roads”.n
The African philosophy UBUNTU “I am because we are”, is more than a motto in his sense, it is a fight for peace, it’s the martial art of living together.n
‘UBUNTU Roads’ becomes more than a musical or cinematographic project. It is ultimately defined by its social dimension, political, philosophical and fundamentally human.

The evening will start with a film screening of the film LIFE SAARABA ILLEGAL, followed by a panel discussion and a live concert with ALIBETA and band.
nFilm screening: LIFE SAARABA ILLEGALn
“Saaraba” is what West Africans call the promised land of “Europe”. Over a period of almost 10 years the camera follows Aladji and Souley, two brothers from a small fishing island in the atlantics and off the coast of Senegal. His cousin and co-writer of this film – Saliou Sar – who in his home country has become a known musician (Alibeta), documents the journey of 3.000 kilometers all the way up to Northern Morocco where he tries to convince him to return.

R: Saliou Waa Guendoum Sarr, Peter Heller, Bernhard Rübe, Documentary, Germany, 2016, 90 Min.
