AfricAvenir's work has in recent years been internationally, continentally and nationally recognized and rewarded.
AfricAvenir receives UNESCO Toussaint Louverture Medal
During the Opening Ceremony of the Festival "200 Years Later..." the President of UNESCO's Executive Council, Ambassador Joseph Olabiyi Babalola Yai awarded the organizers - AfricAvenir International e.V. and Werkstatt der Kulturen - with the "Toussaint Louverture Medal", which "celebrates contribution to the struggle against domination, racism and intolerance".
The medal was created on the occasion of the closing of the International Year to Commemorate the Struggle against Slavery and its Abolition and was first awarded to the famous Martiniquais poet Aimé Césaire and Abdias do Nascimento, a founder of the Teatro Expérimental do Negro, the first organization to introduce the rehabilitation of the Afro-Brazilian heritage in the fight against discrimination. The prize is named after the freed slave who led the fight for Haiti’s independence.
African Trophy of Civic Leadership & Commitment
On 13 December 2008 Prof. Kum'a Ndumbe III was awarded the African Trophy for Civic Leadership & Commitment in the Category "Arts & Cultures" for his relentless dedication at the head of AfricAvenir International in favour of African cultural renewal and renaissance. Best Cameroonian Website 2007 Award for AfricAvenir Website - NGO Category
AfricAvenir has received in the framework of the First Celebration of the Internet on 10 May 2007 at Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé, the trophy for the "Best Cameroonian Website 2007" in the "NGO Category". The event was organized by the Ngallé Foundation under the high patronship of the Minister of Communication and Telecommunications.
In the final phase AfricAvenir was competing with Bonabéri.com, CONESTEL and Synergies Africaines. The jury which consisted of Jean Francois Istasse from Canada, Damien Kaiser, Administrator of OPCommunication sprl from Belgium and Christian Ngalle du Cameroun. Public votes accounted for 10% said Damien Kaiser. The trophy was handed to Prince Kum'a Ndumbe III, founding director of AfricAvenir by Judith Ravin of the US Embassy in Yaoundé.
"www.africavenir.org convinces by its capacity of showing an Africa that moves forward, an Africa that knows where it comes from, an Africa that is in search of viable and concrete solutions", the jury commented its decision.
