On Sunday, 24th March 2013, 5 pm AfricAvenir presents Uwe Jansons‘ film "On the Inside" at Hackesche Höfe Kino. "On the Inside" tells the story of Arusha Ntarama, who lost everything in a massacre in Nyankunde, Congo – her dignity, her husband, her children. At the event of Simon Taylor, Minister for Economic Development in the Congo, checking in at the Brandenburger Hof in Berlin as a guest of the Mayor of Berlin, she storms his hotel room armed with a gun to take him to task. "On the Inside" is a story about the search for justice and the fragile nature of truth. It is – condensed into a small space – a parable of all civil wars, the victims and the perpetrators. She wants to expose Taylor as Statehouse Commander Robert Makeni, who is responsible for the massacre and her loss. Between 1987 and 1990 he took part in numerous script writing seminars in the training programme of the FEMI and the European Script Funds – with Sir Richard Attenborough, Frank Daniel and Renee Goddard among others. Working as a as director, producer and writer for more than 50 films for cinema and television since 1992, Janson has received numerous awards. With "Baal" (2003), he founded a renaissance of German theatre film. Three more excellent and award-winning films emerged within this series with the ZDF: "Lulu", "Peer Gynt" and "Werther" – which have been praised by German and French critics. These films won prices at festivals and were screened at arthouse cinemas. The two-part film "Volcano" was a celebrated success for RTL Television in fall 2009 and was nominated for an Award. "On The Inside" was an official contribution to the European Independent Film Festival in Paris and is a sturmunddrangfilm production that was accomplished by Uwe Janson together with the author Oliver Czeslik.Uwe Janson won the German Comedy Award for "Danni Lowinski" in 2011.
